About Us
ASOC was founded in 1927.
ASOC MISSION:
“A supportive creative community for visual arts and artists”
ASOC OBJECTIVES
To:
· develop skills, knowledge and understanding of the visual arts;
· maintain a supportive and vibrant community amongst its members;
· provide relevant information about events and activities in the visual arts;
· organise activities for doing art in a supportive group setting;
· organise exhibitions to display members’ art; and
· support and promote the practice of the visual arts in the ACT and region.
ASOC is a community of approximately 300 members who have been meeting to share their ideas, enthusiasm and inspiration since 1927– that is an awful lot of knowledge and experience to share.
We meet on the last Sunday of each month, organise a Summer Art Experience (a week of art under expert tuition), as well as exhibitions, regular workgroups and workshops throughout the year which are open to members and non-members.
Come along as a guest, or join us – we are a friendly society, always ready to welcome new members. ASOC offers local and distant membership – for those too far away to attend regular meetings and events but want to join in our annual events.
Further information on ASOC activities is on the Membership page.
A Membership form is available on the Forms page.
About ASOC
ASOC is a community of approximately 300 members who have been meeting to share their ideas, enthusiasm and inspiration since 1927 – that is an awful lot of knowledge and experience to share.
For members we meet on the last Sunday of the month, organise member exhibitions, and have quite a few workgroups that meet weekly throughout the year. We have a bi-monthly newsletter and email updates to let you know what is happening in the district. You also get a 10% discount at Eckersley’s stores. Non-members are welcome to attend these events as a guest.
We also organise a Summer Art Experience (a week of art under expert tuition), and organise tutored workshops that are open to both members and non-members.
So come along as a guest, or join us – we are a friendly society, always ready to welcome new members. ASOC offers local and distant membership – for those too far away to attend regular meetings and events but want to join in our annual events.
